Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I install my widget onto various blogging, social networks, or personal pages?
    • To get your widgets to install to any blogging site, social network (Hyves, Cafemom, etc.), personal site, etc., the site must first support Flash or JavaScript. If this is the case, click the "Get Widget Code" option when placing the widget. Depending on what the site supports, you'll want to copy the appropriate code snippet. The first is JavaScript and the second is Flash. If you need help on where to paste the code, please contact support for the site that you're installing the widget for further instructions. Note: Wordpress.com currently does not support external Widgets, including Widgetbox. We're actively working with them to change this, but in the meantime, you're welcome to let Wordpress know that you want your Widgetbox widgets!
  • How do I delete my widget from the site that I installed it to?
    • To delete a widget from any site that you installed code to, either manually or via one of our installers, just delete the code that you inserted. For example, on Myspace, you'd go to your profile edit page, find the section of the profile where your widget is displayed, and delete all of the code for the widget.
  • This widget doesn't work. Can you please fix it?
    • For users (widget subscribers) to view widgets, they must have the same sort of browser. In addition, a widget's developer might have used advanced Javascript techniques, Flash, Java applets, and so on. Widgetbox can't predict compatibility of each widget. If Javascript is not enabled, a page visitor will not see a widget or error message. No space will be taken up. For people to view widgets, they must have the same sort of browser. • What browsers do you support?
    • To browse and develop on Widgetbox, you need a modern web browser with JavaScript and Adobe Flash enabled (9 or later). We officially support Firefox 2 and 3 (Mac, Windows, Linux), Safari 2 and 3 (Mac, Windows), and Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (Windows). We do not support Internet Explorer 5 (Windows, Mac). Because of the nature of the Web and web technologies, we suggest using a web standards compliant, modern browser that's relatively new but not beta. Currently, we would recommend Firefox 3 or Safari 3 to get the best possible experience from Widgetbox and the rest of the Web.
