Can I use the Viral Installer with widgets I’ve already registered?
Yes. You’ll see a Get Installer link next to each of your registered widgets within the My Widgets tab on Widgetbox. Click the link to get the Viral Installer code.
What does the Viral Installer look like to my users?
The Viral Installer comes with a Widgetbox Get Widget button and menu with which Widgetbox users are familiar. Whether a user finds your widget on your site or elsewhere on the web, the process of getting a widget is the same.
I know that certain sites don’t accept Flash or JavaScript widgets. Does the Viral Installer hide these sites?
The Viral Installer is smart. It knows which sites support Flash and JavaScript and only displays the sites that support your widgets.
What if the user does not see his destination of choice after clicking the Get Widget button in the Viral Installer? How can he/she get my widget?
The Viral Installer generates HTML code a user can copy and paste into his/her destination of choice by selecting Get Code after clicking Get Widget. Learn more about these two options here.
If a user puts my widget onto a site using the Viral Installer, can another user grab the widget from that same site?
Yes. It’s viral! A Get Widget button appears beneath each widget installed by the Viral Installer and allows other users to get the widget for themselves.
I’d like to allow a user to configure my widget on my site. How do I do this?
The Viral Installer code includes all of the configurable widget values you defined when registering your widget on Widgetbox. Just create an interface on your site to send these values to the Viral Installer. Click here for more technical information on how to do this.
